Position Description:
The Controller's Office is seeking assistance with tax preparation for calendar year end 2025. We are seeking an individual available for part-time temporary work that has previous experience in higher education.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Review supplier data in Peoplesoft and ensure that tax and Form 1099 data transferred over correctly to Workday.
2. Review all Form 1099 data prior to year end to ensure accuracy and reduce errors. Includes:
• Ensuring payments are mapped to the correct form (1099-MISC or 1099-NEC) and to correct boxes;
• Ensuring payment amounts are correct;
• Reviewing integrity of all other data including proper name/taxID match and addresses;
• Coordinating with Payroll staff on reportable 1099 payments (payments after death and/or contract employees);
• Ensuring summer research payments have been pulled from 1099 reporting;
• Making sure expense reimbursement and travel-related payments are pulled from data;
• Converting data from Swift card transactions and converting to 1099 reporting;
• Other miscellaneous data clean-up.
3. Work with Accounts Payable staff to clean up and correct data.
4. Import data to third party 1099 filing service and reviewing prior to releasing file.
5. If time and budget allows – handling inquiries and corrections post-filing.
Position will be fully remote unless there is a need to come into the office. There will be no benefits offered.
Compensation Target: $30.00 per hour
Compensation will be commensurate to candidate experience.
