About the Community Services Department:
The Community Services Department (CSD) is responsible for providing enriching, fun, and meaningful opportunities for the community. CSD operates the Epicenter Sports Complex, RC Family Resource Center, RC Sports Center, Victoria Gardens Cultural Center, Lions Center East and West, and Goldy S. Lewis Community Center and James L. Brulte Senior Center. In addition to 7 facilities, there are more than 30 different parks open to the community for passive use, park shelter and event rentals, hiking trails, athletic fields, and City planned special events.

What you'll be responsible for:
The City of Rancho Cucamonga is seeking a Community Services Coordinator to join the Community Service's team. CSD is comprised of Youth and Teen Services, Special Events, Senior Services, Youth and Adult Sports, Event Services, Contract Classes, Theatre and Cultural Arts, and Park Services. Update: Current vacancy is only in the Special Events division.
This is an entry-level, full-time position responsible for overseeing the planning and implementation of community and recreational programs and services. Based on selected candidates' skill sets, department reorganization is possible. Immediate projects ahead for this position will include expanding program offerings, increasing public participation, and playing an integral part in leading part-time staff as the department moves forward after COVID-19.

ARE YOU QUALIFIED
Education and/or Experience:
Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's degree with major coursework in recreation or a related field and two years of experience in the implementation of cultural and recreation programs or activities or any combination of training and experience that provides the desired knowledge and abilities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the theories, principles, practices and programs common to the field of recreation and leisure services; methods for identifying community recreation needs. Ability to effectively work with people having varied socio-economic standings; prepare and present concise written and oral reports; promote recreation and leisure programs; supervise aides and volunteers.
Special Requirements:
Possession of or ability to obtain an appropriate California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
First Aid and CPR certification required within 60 days of employment.
